Description (Service)

The Bright Starts Program offers support for families experiencing challenging life circumstances. Peer support groups, are offered in various locations throughout Northumberland County.. During group, participants are provided with the following services and resources:

  • Parenting education and support
  • Screening and monitoring of participant children's development
  • Information and support regarding determinants of health with a focus on personal and family health practices and coping skills, healthy child development, family home safety.
  • Linkage and referral to other community service providers and support
  • Gift Cards for fresh food and prenatal vitamins are given to pregnant and breastfeeding participants
  • Simply Supper Food Bags (a meal in a bag), household and personal items, baby food and diapers are provided free with group attendance
