Description
Description (Service) | Provides support to veterans, their families and the community. Hosts social gatherings, including summer barbeques on Friday nights (all welcome). Celebrate Legion Week in September. Annual Poppy campaign is held the first two weeks in November which includes tag days, a parade to the cenotaph on Remembrance Day, November 11, followed by a service at the cenotaph (both in Flesherton and Markdale) and comradeship at the Legion. Proceeds from the Poppy Campaign are used to assist ex-veterans and their families, bursaries for education, literacy and poster contest prizes. Loan cupboard available for public and members including crutches, canes, wheelchairs, walkers and toilet seats. Accepts donations of some items, call for information. |
